Description -------------- SendWave is a small application to call a voice phone and play a wave file. It allows a computer to place an information to someone if something happens. In opposite to e-mail and short messaging service there are no additional devices required expect a simple phone and the message reaches the person at the moment when the event happens (except he or she is not on the phone). 2. Requirements --------------- SendWave should work under any Windows based operating systems higher or equal Windows 95. It requires a voice modem that supports the TAPI (Telephony Application Programming Interface) 1.4 standard. 3. Installation --------------- Just unzip the file in a folder of your choice and start the program SendWave.exe. 4. How to use ------------- While starting the first time the application tries to find a working TAPI device and set some default settings. If you see a "ready" string in the status box at the bottom of the dialog you should be able to enter a phone number and "dial" it. Otherwise you can press the "More Info" button to see a list of your TAPI devices and their properties. Alternative to the preselected "msg.wav" file you can enter your own message file. Please note that the wav format must be supported by the TAPI device. You will see it in the line below. Most devices support 8000 Hz, 16 Bit, Mono. You can also record or convert a given wave file into the correct format by the audio recorder. Just select the mentioned format under settings and save the wav file as a new file. If all settings are correct and a test call was successful you can close the program. Now you can call the program with the command line "SendWave.exe -dial" to start the call immediately. For instance you can use the "Run program" option of SupervisionCam to place the call if a motion was detected. 5. Limitations ------------- The program is just in an alpha status, that means I couldn't test many different circumstances or modems. I have no idea how to detect a successful connection. After dialing the program gets the connect status as long as the destination party takes the call an closes it again. If the call fails or nobody takes the call the program closes the call after the time you can enter under "Disconnect after x seconds". The wave file with the message should be much shorter than the "Disconnect time". There are no other command line options to address a different phone number or send a different wave file. 6. Distribution --------------- The program can be used for free. It is not allowed to put the program on any Web page expect http://www.supervisioncam.de or to distribute on any other ways except the author agrees. 7. Service ---------- Please write an e-mail to supercam(at)gmx.net if you have problems, suggestions or any important information for the author.
